I can't wait to get playing with Toxic Love Affair again. It's gonna be a blast at Caranival. We're gonna have CDs and some goodies... I'm working on a few neat little things as we head into the studio in the next month or so to record the LP perhaps still titled 'Tragically Ever After...' (We have and haven't discussed this, but I don't think anyone objects to the title).
Anyways... train of thught derailment... we're working on a couple of upcoming gigs with our TLA comrades, the biggest being Caranival a big, two-day, invite-only festival, which our two bands are closing out on saturday, the 24th of this month. It's been a long time since we've really done a show together. Since our last gig in Black River, actually, at Club 342. This has been due to their working out tracks for their upcoming LP (which I was fortunate enough to hear in their studio. The tracks didn't yet have Shawn 'The Man of Steel' Ellis' voical track added yet, but were heavy as hell, regardless). It's also been due to our own preparations to record, as I mentioned earlier. And scheduling was another matter altogether.
But it's coming up. And I can't wait. Those guys kick ass and they're all first class guys to boot. Let me tell ya a quick story from the Zadoc archives which oddly enough got left out of my Tour Diary entry...
When we played the Metal Madness Festival at Mr. McGills last year, we sat outside baking in the sun for a couple of hours choking smokes and drinking quickly-warming beers with our buddies, then known as Ssik Humor. At one point, this ended up becoming a long ragging session... and what do drunken, overheated metalheads talk about whilst baking in the sun you ask? The French, of course.
Now, Matt railed the French in a long and hilarious diatribe that last at least a half and hour, if not an hour... then I calmly said... "It's probably not good to mention that I'm French-Canadian..."
HAHA You should have seen the look on Matt's face. Damn, it's killing me thinking about it now. Course, I wasn't offended. Hell, I hate the French (see my posts on TLA'a forum at http://www.ToxicLoveAffair.com).
This just goes to show you how tight these bands are. We're friends as well as partners in our music network here, which is something I wouldn't trade for the world.
